KADINGO provided leadership to member organizations that participated in the Social Forum 2006, the “Stand Up and Speak Against Poverty” in 2007, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) fairs under the themes; ‘Act Together, Shape the Future: Civil Society in Uganda at 50 Years (2012). “Our Country, Our Dignity, My Duty.”(2013). Celebrating Our East African Citizenship 2014. The events were platforms for member organisations such as Kalangala Forum for people Living HIV/Aids (KAFOPHAN), Kalangala District Education Forum(KADEFO) Kalangala District Women Initiative for Development(KADWID) Bufumira Islands Development Initiative(BIDA) etc .to show case civil society work in Kalangala District to the rest of the world; displaying the different activities, services, and programmes that are done by several CSOs, and creating more opportunities for extended donor funding of the projects done in Kalangala.
With funding from Actionaid International Uganda, spearheaded the establishment of Kalangala Community Radio (KCR FM 99.8), under the theme ‘right to information’. It has increased community awareness, participation and advocacy on key community concerns. Key areas of community concerned discussed on radio were: The unfavorable contractual agreements that were done between Government of Uganda and Kalangala Infrastructural services, which were revised to suit the concerns of the community that we serve, which ended into free ferry transport services for people using Bukakata Luku route to Kalangala District. Increased awareness on children and women rights which has reduced on cases of domestic violence.
